WE starts with YOU!
There are many ways you can participate in WE: Unity & Peace -

• Register as a Partner on WE.net and we will begin to promote your group's activities in the spirit of WE to a global audience. We will be heavily publicizing our Partners' activities through Sept. 21st in various media, Press Releases and our newsletter which reaches about 12,000 leaders and members of social change organizations around the world.
• Calendar & Activities Promotion: Put your Listings on the Global Unity Calendar. We will link them to our WE Action/Get Involved pages at www.WE.net. There is no word limit (you can include your logo and up to 4 images per page)
• Blog: The WE Forum Blog has a 750 character limit (no pictures). This could be an event or other announcement, a message, or a description of your mission. You can even ask your group's members to comment on your activities here.
• Video: Enter the WE Campaign Video Challenge. Upload a video showing your actions or your group's activities that reflect the spirit of WE You could also make a new video about why WE consciousness is so important these days: "Why WE? Why Now?" We will feature selected videos during the 11 Days of Global Unity. 3 minute videos or less are recommended, greater length is ok.
• Become an Ambassador of WE! Get your organization and your friends involved
• Set up a WE Student Action Group or WE Community Group in your area
• Create an Event or other Program for the 11 Days of Global Unity (Sept. 11-21) in your school or community and list it on the Calendar
• Post http://www.WE.net and the WE logo on your website and invite your Facebook and Twitter friends to get involved
• Donate generously to the WE campaign! By investing in WE you are investing in peace, sustainability and transformation for our world.

Background

For people around the world, peace is the central issue that impacts all other issues. Escalating militarism and violence are draining massive amounts of funds, resources and the human spirit needed to address eco-damage, climate change, the mass extinction of species, poverty, and other crises. For example, the amount of money spent on military, weapons, and war globally is more than three times the total cost of providing adequate food, shelter, clean water and healthcare to everyone on the planet.

Invest in Peace (You get what you pay for). Critical areas include:

• Fund the technology and labor transition programs needed to move from fossil fuels to renewable non-polluting energy sources. No more wars for oil.
• Promote peacebuilding through ensuring basic human needs worldwide such as food, water, shelter and healthcare.
• Move to regional self-sufficiency with land reform and sustainable development
• Create green jobs and green economies for a green world
• Fund alternatives to war: field-tested and highly successful nonviolent means of conflict prevention and resolution including multilateral and other forms of diplomacy, use of nonviolent civilian peacekeeping forces, interfaith dialogue, Truth & Reconciliation Commissions, Nonviolent, Communication, and other approaches.
• Establish a Department or Ministry of Peace in every country

• WE Connect
  • The WE Campaign network includes visionary leaders such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Jane Goodall, Deepak Chopra, Immaculee Ilibagiza, Bill McKibben plus leaders and members of more than 12,000 social change organizations from around the world. www.WE.net provides a global Calendar, social networking, blog discussion forum, video uploading and other resources for sharing and collaboration. We are developing WE.net to become a portal in which a success anywhere can soon become a success everywhere.
  • We are always expanding our Partner community and expect to energize thousands of new allies in the coming months.
• WE Mobilize
  • WE Student Action: Activating young people to get involved and take action
    • Reach out to existing youth groups
    • Set up new WE Youth Groups in local communities and schools
    • Work on a variety of Youth Projects including Haiti rebuilding and Africa 50 Year Independence commemoration, etc.
  • 11 Days of Global Unity Sept. 11-21: 11 Days of Awareness and Action for peace, justice, sustainability and transformation. Annual participation now includes more that 700 associated events in over 60 countries with festivals, concerts, webcasts, conferences, rallies and many other activities around the world. 11 Days of Global Unity (started in 2004 by We, The World) culminates on September 21st, the U.N. International Day of Peace which itself annually has literally thousands of events in over 100 countries. WE: Unity & Peace supports and promotes the activities of thousands of organizations around the world that take part in 11 Days of Global Unity and the International Day of Peace.
• WE Accelerate Global Social Change
  • Utilizing Strategic Alliances developed over many years, the WE Campaign connects and coordinates the actions and consciousness-raising efforts of WE Partners with global leaders and members of thousands of social change organizations worldwide.
