WE Strategy
WE Action Campaigns occur every 3 months and culminate on the Solstices and Equinoxes. Beginning with WE: Unity & Peace, each campaign will address one theme of social concern. In hundreds of communities around the world, partners of WE will participate in these campaigns to create change. Focusing on one major issue at a time will channel information and energy to maximize grassroots efforts. The goal is to build local awareness and political support for crucial changes in legislation, business or government practices, diplomatic treaties, ecological improvements, education or whatever is most important in the region. These local actions take place in the context of a global effort focused on the current Campaign Theme.
While actions and collaboration will be focused on the WE Action Campaign theme, the broad and universal nature of each theme allows for sub-tracks related to the current theme. WE: Eco-Systems & Biodiversity, for instance, incorporates sub-tracks including Water, Green Economy, Human Needs & Social Justice, and Unity and Peace. Through the major Campaign theme and the tracks, WE Partners will continuously interact, take action and affect change on all major social issues.
Campaign Themes include
- Water
- Unity & Peace
- Eco-systems & Biodiversity
- Green Economy
- Human Needs, Social Justice & Equality
- Transformation & Spirit
- Media, Culture and the Arts
Utilizing the expansive web design of WE.net and social networking vehicles, Partners of WE connect for efficient interaction and greater opportunities for collaboration. The effect of the network leads to a grassroots movement for change that affects political will.
WE.net is building a million+ member pool of social change agents networked together for the common good! WE Change Agent Network (WE C.A.N.) is a major resource, supporting efforts of social activists around the world and helping to grow essential social movements. Our goal is to generate massive support for important social causes as we create the transformative experience of a new activism - connecting and working with others to improve the world!
The Global Unity Calendar serves as an organizing tool for Partner organizations and individuals to post and publicize events and programs. The International Council of WE includes visionary leaders and representatives of major global organizations and campaigns which address areas of global concern including: human rights, climate, eco-system health, biodiversity, empowering women, peace, protecting indigenous cultures, poverty, labor, green economy, and interfaith dialogue/reconciliation. The International Council of WE establishes a platform for globally coordinated calls to action: 1) as part of the WE Campaign, and 2) to maximize response to an emergency world crisis, such as a breakdown in diplomacy leading to impending major war. Council members could quickly activate each of their vast constituencies to mobilize and coordinate major global actions to address such an emergency.
The Global Action Events take place on or near the Solstices and Equinoxes produced by grassroots Partners of WE in hundreds (or thousands) of communities around the world. Events include festivals, concerts, conferences, rallies, video/documentary screenings, arts presentations [including theater], webcasts and house parties.
These culminating events of the WE Campaigns provide a means to rally excitement, increase awareness and activism, attract media attention and generate local and regional political will. During Events, provision is made to allow inspired people to take some kind of action on the spot (send an email, write a letter, sign a petition, make a phone call to a politician, diplomat or corporate CEO), make a You Tube video and so on. Local Co-Sponsoring organizations let Event participants know about follow-up meetings and other activities for their campaign - ways for people to get involved on an ongoing basis.
In addition to these community Events, WE will co-produce one or more Hub Events in key countries that feature major speakers and performers. With backing from our Resource Partners, the Hub Events can be video linked and reach millions of people through media coverage, inspiring many new people to get involved
The model for the Global Action Events is We, The World’s 11 Days of Global Unity culminating on the International Day of Peace, September 11, each year. Established in 2004, 11 Days of Global Unity now involves more than 700 associated events in over 60 countries each year.
The WE Campaign seeks to establish a new tradition (era) of local action/global participation; a new activism. WE promotes a mindset of mass public involvement in which billions of people begin to see themselves as part of one global interdependent community - and regularly take an active role in creating a peaceful, just and sustainable world.
